Becka from one of Borrow my Garden’s fabulous, outside event suppliers, Tentshare, gives us help and advice about how to create your own outdoor festival. Thanks, Becka!
Are you missing that festival vibe in 2021? It’s been hard to know whether to attend the big outdoor festivals. Perhaps creating your own festival for friends and family may offer a safer but just as fabulous, feel-good festival buzz.
Follow this preparation list and you will soon be partying with friends and family festival style!
Now you’ve done all the hard work of creating your own festival, the real festival fun can begin. You can go as full-on ‘festival’ as you like.
What are you going to name your festival? Try using your name or some variation, and then add ‘fest’ to the end. I love ‘Bexfest’ because my name’s Becka! What would yours be?
Maybe you would like to make your festival a bit ‘extra’ (you might as well) and create a theme. Are you going to go fifties fun or nineties rave? Perhaps just a ‘wild’ theme or ‘glam’? Pick a theme to help your festival have a focus.
Many of the big Summer festivals have themes and dressing up, such as Shambala. Shambala has a fancy dress theme each year and a parade through the whole of the festival grounds on Saturday night. It’s quite a spectacle.
Talking of themes, don’t forget your outfits. Always do costumes 100% or not at all. That’s the festival mantra. Fulfil your inner fantasy with imagination and style. To keep prices down and do the right thing for the environment, hit the local charity shops to find some show-stopping costumes.
It’s not absolutely necessary to book a live act these days; an entire digital music catalogue is at your fingertips. To mix it up, you could invite friends to create a 20-minute playlist each that they get to play as resident DJs.
So now you’ve considered all the points made in this blog about how to create your own festival, all there is left to do is PARTY!
